Committed to the study and performance of exclusively contemporary and new orchestral music, Contemporary Youth Orchestra is unlike any other youth orchestra in the nation.
With a mix of diverse performance opportunities for both ensemble and chamber, CYO-commissioned pieces, student compositions, and Rock the Orchestra where we partner with professional musicians for a rock concert with an orchestral twist, CYO musician collaboration and exposure to career possibilities in the musical arts is next level.
CYO exists to help students become confident, creative musicians in a one-of-a-kind community.

Eligibility Criteria
- Ages 12-18
- Active participation in school program (homeschooled musicians and students without a school program exempt)
- Active private study

*CYO never turns away a student due to financial circumstances. Tuition assistance is available.
What to Expect
- Season: September – May
- Rehearsals: Saturdays, 8:30-12:30 pm, Denison Hall, Case Western Reserve University
- Rehearsals will typically include full ensemble sessions and small group instruction
- 3 Ensemble Performances per Season
- Additional opportunities include C Y We Write student composition program, concerto competition, small ensemble participation and performances
- Conductor: Kris Morron, Music Director of Contemporary Youth Orchestra
Open Rehearsals
- CYO Open Houses are being held on September 26th, October 3rd, December 19th, January 9th, March 13th, and March 20th.
- There are potential opportunities for mid-season seating for certain sections of the orchestra!
